Xeros, the UK polymer bead technology company, has been announced as winner of the Best New Listed Company category at the European Small and Mid-Cap Awards in Brussels. The company was also named as runner-up in the Most Innovative Newcomer category.
Xeros’ commercial laundry system uses polymer bead technology to provide superior cleaning results when compared to conventional washing machines. The beads are combined with a small amount of detergent and water and the dirt from the soiled items is then attracted and absorbed by the beads. The patented, award-winning system uses up to 80% less water, up to 50% less energy and approximately 50% less detergent than conventional laundry systems.
The Awards, founded by the European Commission, the Federation of European Security Exchanges (FESE) and European issuers, highlight what can be achieved by small and mid-cap companies which have raised money on public exchanges, many of which have significantly increased turnover and profits since flotation.
Deirdre Somers, FESE President, said: “The listed companies nominated for these awards fully deserve recognition for their achievements and serve as an example to other companies of the positive benefits that can be gained from equity financing.”
Commenting on the win Mark Nichols, CEO of Xeros said: “We are delighted to be named as the winner of the Best New Listed Company category in these prestigious awards. As a result of our AIM listing on the London Stock Exchange we have been able to support the roll-out of our commercial laundry strategy, raising the profile of the company and our technologies with potential partners, customers and investors alike.”

Xeros has developed a number of patented polymer bead systems that significantly reduce water, energy and chemical use while also delivering superior end results. The Group initially targeted the Commercial Laundry market with the roll-out of 25kg capacity washing machines, which exclusively use Xeros' patented polymer bead cleaning system, and where it is gaining significant customer traction, especially in the US. The Group is also developing smaller machines to broaden its portfolio in Commercial Laundry, driving penetration in multiple geographies and ultimately providing a machine designed for in-home use.
Beyond laundry, Xeros’ polymer bead technology has a range of potential applications and the Group is currently in various stages of development and preparation for commercialisation of a range of other identified applications, the most advanced of which is leather processing. The Group’s strategy is to exploit its owned and patented platform bead technology in a range of industrial markets to take advantage of the global challenges of water scarcity and the rising cost of energy that are driving an urgent need for more environmentally sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
